William Allison is a long time resident of Penn Yan. He has been a businessman in the area for many years, dating back to 1980. Currently, he owns the Valley Inn Restaurant in Branchport, N.Y. and has operated this business since 1984.

Allison is a life member of the Penn Yan Fire Department, having served as assistant fire chief, fire chief and New York State Fire Instructor (1983-1991). He is a member of the NYS Fire Chiefs Association; member of the LOOM 2030; member of the BPOE 1722; and member of the Lakeside Country Club.

In 1998, Allison was elected as a village trustee. In 2002, he was re-elected to his second term. He has served as chairman of recreation, public works and serves on numerous committees. He is also the liaison to the Penn Yan Municipal Board. He has been involved with the Horizon Industrial Park. Allison is also a member of the village negotiating team that provides contracts with other municipalities for water and sewer.
